SOCIAL ACTION (TIKKUN-OLAM)

Say Little. Do Much.

The Social Action Committee at Temple Adas Shalom is entirely focused on and committed to Tikkun Olam, which is the English transliteration of the Hebrew phrase which means “repair the world”. The committee initiates and manages ongoing programs that benefit individuals within the congregation and surrounding communities. This includes food and clothing drives, prepared and served meals to the needy and homeless, health and education programs, and other as needed “ad hoc” initiatives.

We have worked with and supported many organizations including Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna Chapter, SARC of Harford County, Harford Family House, American Red Cross of Baltimore, Welcome One Shelter, Boys and Girls Club of Harford County, Central Christian Church / Hope in Action Ministry, St. James AME Church, and Masjid Al Falaah / Harford County Education Society.

Temple Adas Shalom will be partnering with the Interfaith refugee Ministry to provide support to a Afghani family who assisted the U.S. military, currently residing in northeastern Baltimore.

Below you will see a suggested list of items to donate. Additional and more immediate needs are help with finding minimum wage jobs, providing transportation to appointments, teaching computer skills, as well as financial literacy. Interested in Volunteering With Our Social Action Committee?

The mission of Temple Adas Shalom's Social Action Committee is to galvanize our Jewish community to do the work of tikkun olam, inspired and guided by our traditions and teachings on social justice. We will achieve this goal by harnessing the knowledge and passion of our community to create a more just and inclusive community.

We are always looking to recruit passionate individuals who are not satisfied and content unless they’re making a difference in the lives of others.  If you are interested in participating on this committee, please e-mail us at so***********@**************om.org.
